We spend so much money on skincare every year, on average women spend over $3,000 a year on beauty products! With that said, it’s pretty important that you’re getting the right one for your face.
To start, make sure your cleanser is the right one for you but don’t spend an arm and a leg on it! This is the one product that doesn’t stay on your face, so make sure you get the right one but don’t overspend. Unless you’re okay with washing money down the drain! Literally. The products out there are always changing but some of the best out there right now are included in this blog post.
For dry skin, I recommend Cerave Hydrating Cleanser or Cetaphil Gentle Skin C
For oily skin, you’re going to want to go with something that has salicylic acid inside of it. My new favorite that has truly reduced the number of breakouts I get is Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser.
For combination skin, honestly I would recommend this to all skin types because it’s so amazing but I like to have multiple face washes at home! Julep’s Love Your Bare Face Hydrating Oil is amazing! You have to get the charcoal Konjac Sponge with it and you will not go back! It leaves your skin with a beautiful soft glow.
Too many people wash their face incorrectly, either by pulling and scrubbing hard or using too hot of water etc.
- Start with washing your hands and fingernails first!
- Remove makeup around eyes before cleansing and anywhere else you have it caked on.
- Dampen your face with water, then put your face wash on a konjac sponge or washcloth and gently spread it around. Be gentle! Use your fingertips if you have super sensitive skin and the washcloth is too abrasive (like me, I use the konjac sponge because my face turns bright red if I use even a soft washcloth). Better yet, use a Clarisonic if you have one!
- Pat dry, do not rub!
After you are done, follow either a night or morning routine. And please, do not skip washing your face at night! I know we are all guilty of this but it is one of the worst things you can do for your skin over time.
Apply a night serum (my preference is Lancome Genifique but whatever is your favorite works great).
Apply a heavy night lotion (if you have dry skin and if you have oily skin a light lotion is great too).
Apply an eye cream, dab gently underneath your eyes.
Apply a moisturizer with SPF (do not skip the SPF).
Lastly, go out and enjoy your beautiful skin!
